Romanian troupe
Taraf de Haïdouks ("Band of Outlaws") are arguably the most influencial Roma musicians to emerge from post-communist Romania. Formed in 1989, the group membership fluctuates between twelve and thirty players, though the loss of Nicolae Neacşu and Dumitru Baicu has diminished the core.
This is an unmissable opportunity to hear the authentic sound of Roma tradition, much studied and praised by ethnomusicologists such as Speranta Radulescu and Laurent Aubert.
