Nicolas Philibert Retrospective

Nicolas Philibert

As he says himself, Nicolas Philibert doesn’t make films on a subject but rather films “with” or “thanks to”. This retrospective of films which spans the past thirty years, includes various documentaries and films including Etre et Avoir (2002), which met with international and national success, is an excellent chance to catch the talents of this filmmaker. Philibert has also selected films that have been of importance to him. See the programme for more information.

Today:

La Face nord du camembert
1985 / 7'
The young mountain climber Christophe Profit is commissioned as a stunt double for the film Billy ze Kick by Gérard Mordillat. He must climb the steep façade of a 60 metre high building.

La Ville Louvre
1990 / 85'
What does the Louvre look like when the public aren’t there? For the first time ever, a large museum allows a film crew to go backstage as it organises paintings and reorganises rooms. The thousands of reserve works – paintings, sculptures and objects allow us to discover a world within a world.
