Tatjana Doll

For her fourth exhibition at the Jean Brolly gallery Tatjana Doll presents a 3 metres by 6 metres painting representing a black and white pictogram of a weightlifter. Opposite this unusual athlete a series of smaller canvases, each one a human silhouette, evokes the presence of an anonymous public. Conforming to the artistic proportions of the hobbypop group (Düsseldorf, 1997) of which she is a member alongside Tine Furler, Sophie von Hellermann, Dietmar Lutz and Markus Vater, Tatjana Doll is interested in things « without soul and without pathos »: iPods, Minis, Hummers, Porsches, logos, traffic signals etc and through this interest forces the viewer to look at the everyday in a different light.
