Theo Parrish, Radio Salah

Theo Parrish. If you know who he is, you'll probably mock our attempts to sum up such a musically important history in a paragraph. If you don't, you need to listen to this man's work. Simple as that. This maverick of the underground began producing and DJing in the mid-eighties, aged thirteen. He studied art and music in Kansas City, experimenting with live instruments and electronic devices to form "sonic sculptures", whilst continually being influenced by nineties dance music. In 1994 he moved to Michigan and got stuck into the Detroit underground scene, producing and DJing music which displayed both his artistic mind and his jazz influences. Parrish's catalogue contains a number of bodies of work without which modern electronic music would be a different landscape, from his 1997 breakthrough anthem "When the Morning Comes" to the Ubiquity-reissued "Parallel Dimensions". If you're into house, techno, jazz, funk or any deriviative of those, do not miss this.
