Michel Paysant presents two radically different approaches to drawing. In Artificiers 2009 Paysant creates work from hybrid personages. Soldiers in Hamas, GI or serial killer deliver a twofold message which is both disturbing and optimistic. In his second series Autre Vanité Paysant presents a series of Eyedrawings, created with an eyetracker from the cognitive neuroscience lab in Paris, in collaboration with Jean Lorenceau and Olivier Herbez, these skull drawings are the direct reproduction of interior images, used to register and analyse images from the eye captured by cameras to calculate the focal direction. Somewhere between art and science, traditional technique and technological approaches, Michel Paysant troubles and surprises.
