New exhibition from Italian artist
Giovanni Anselmo at the Marian Goodman gallery. After working as a painter from 1959 to 1964, Giovanni Anselmo turned to conceptual art in 1965 and by 1968 was associated with the emergence of Arte Povera , a movement that emerged in Italy in the mid-1960s. These artists sought to make art in which the object was inseparable from the creative process, and which employed non traditional materials such as found objects, plants, and other organic substances. His work has been widely exhibited at museums throughout the world
