Glaz'art welcomes the band widely attributed with the creation of grindcore:
Napalm Death. Formed in 1981, the UK midlands-based band took influences from a number of existing aggressive metal outfits (particularly
Swans) and made it faster and shorter, adding the final touches in the form of the now widely used guttural scream. Their output transcends the specifics of the genre they created, though - members of the band have been instrumental in the development of power electronics, noise, experimental industrial and even dubstep (check
Mick Harris's output as
Scorn for some of the heaviest, darkest productions in the genre).
They're joined by local metal phenomenon L'
Esprit du Clan, and the brutal, conceptual fusion of Backstroke.
