Demi-god of Detroit techno
Juan Atkins brings both his DJ finesse and his live Model 500 sound to the Rex. We could argue all night about whether Juan Atkins invented techno or not (
Derrick May might have a few words to say on the matter), but whatever the outcome there's no denying modern electronic music owes this chap almost as much as it owes Kraftwerk. From Model 500's "Night Drive" (1985) through to his recent productions on Metroplex, the quality level remains high.
