Jeff Wall studied art history at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and at the Courtauld Institute, London. He has played a key role in establishing photography as a contemporary art form. He is known for his iconic works like A Sudden Gust of Wind 1993, Milk 1984 and Trân Dúc Ván 1988–2003, as well as lesser-known photographs. His photographic tableaux often take Vancouver's mixture of natural beauty, urban decay and post-modern and industrial featurelessness as their backdrop with an attention to detail that can take years to achieve. His work has been exhibited in numerous international exhibitions.
