Elika Hedayat

Deeply stricken by everyday life in Iran, Elika Hedayat deals in her work with the weight of censorship, fear of repression, hardship for women – « This is the climate in which I’ve been living » specifies Elika. Her artistic approach is from a necessity to reinvent oneself, to recompose a new identity that remembers the past. Elika Hedayat explores different ways to confront reality imaginatively. « To organize my ideas, I always start from interviews, documentaries, meetings and observations of the surrounding world. My work is a free interpretation which leads us into an imaginative or fantastic universe through those authentic documents. I deal with social and human relationships, and also with the question of identity. I use different ways to express myself such as animation, installation, drawing or videos wherein I compose the soundtrack ».
