CONCERT

Marvin

Written 30 January

Monday 12 January, 20:00
La Flèche d'Or, 75020 [map]
Marvin, William, King of Conspiracy, Simple Appareil

Drums / Guitar / Korg MS20 combo Marvin are a high-energy noise trio from Montpellier. That sounds scarier than it ought to: this is abrasive stuff, but it's not ear-bleeding noise-core. Marvin's thick, driving textures are extremely enjoyable: think Dinosaur Jr or maybe Battles at their most noisey.

UK band William are basically Pavement. They're really good, loads of vocal character, infectious riffs and bags of energy, but yeah, they're Pavement. Simple Appareil are a side project of Heliogabale, with fat chorused power chords and noisey rock posturing agogo. Finally, King of Conspiracy is a fast moving, cowbell banging, high energy discopunkrock three piece who are currently touring more than the US army... with a few seriously plausible anthems in their arsenal, this band are one to watch.
