Every show by Japanese choreographer
Ushio Amagatsu from the Sankai Juku Company can be seen as a rite of passage, a trip across the stage that continues from one theatre to the other and for which the audience is offered a ride. The quite unique sensation of being on the road with him makes every one of his appearances as delectable as a personal rendezvous. Diving into the space of meditation opened by the Sankais, the shaven-headed men with bodies powdered white and adorned in long dresses, must be relished. Once more, a taste for secrecy regarding the intimate workings of his show, for which there is no precise itinerary, prevents Ushio Amagutsu from disclosing anything about his next piece. The only information available is that, as always, seven dancers will perform in seven different scenes, and that it will be an hour and twenty-five minute long.
