Le Parc de la Villette presents the last work of
Duane Hanson (he died in 1996) « The American Dream… »
« My images are no more than you see in real life. The world is truly remarkable, unexpected, surprising, that it isn’t necessary to force character. What exists around us is simply confusing” declared the American artist.
His human scale figures give the impression of living human beings, so perfect is the illusion. Beyond the exceptional dexterity of the artist, the realism of the figures reveals his concerns of “daily life” in a world where the quest of the American dream gets confused with wealth and power.
