Critically acclaimed avant-garde/noise/psyche rockers
Animal Collective have, in various configurations, released over 20 records over the past decade. They don't always feature the same lineup, and they don't necessarily follow a stylistic pattern, but they all have one thing in common - fresh experimentation, diversity, envelope-pushing production values and historically informed forward pop movement.
The recently released "
Water Curses" EP sees the band on top form, and the forthcoming album "
Merriweather Post Pavilion" is already being hailed as one of the records to watch out for in 2009. Live, they show a penchant for mashups and medleys of their back catalogue alongside new material, making their show an enthralling experience for old hands and newcomers alike.
