As part of a season on contemporary Japanese cinema.
The Taste of Tea by Japanese writer and director Katsuhito Ishii, who is known also for his animated sequence in Kill Bill Pt. 2, provides the viewer with a comedic slice of life in this artistic family's rural village. The film tells the tale of the lives of the Haruno family. There’s Sachiko, the eight year old daughter who is trying to rid herself of her Giant version, mother Yoshiko, Manga animator who is about to re-enter the working world after retirement, professional hypnotist Nobuo and eccentric grandfather, all living, in their own way, in a fantastical world. The Taste of Tea was a selection at the Cannes Film Festival.
