CONCERT

Sylvain Chauveau

Written 30 January

Sunday 18 January, 20:00 - 00:00:20
Instants Chavires, 93100 Montre [map]
Sylvain Chauveau, David Grubbs and Hervé Boghossian

French composer Sylvain Chauveau has many guises. His solo work - vast, emotive music for traditional instruments, electronics and voice - has been released by Type and Fatcat amongst other labels, and his film scores for Sébastien Betbeder's visual works, particularly "Nuage" (2007), are arresting and expansive.

Guitarist, pianist, singer and Squirrel Bait founding member David Grubbs has released some amazing music, mostly on Drag City, since the split of Gastr del Sol, his project with Jim O'Rourke (whose new KTL project is as frightening as it is brilliant). The Brooklyn composer's output also includes soundtrack work with Matmos for Thierry Jousse’s feature film Les Invisibles, audio work for installations by Doug Aitken, and his sound installation “Between a Raven and a Writing Desk”, which was included in the 1999 Centre Pompidou exhibition “Elysian Fields”.

Guitarist, electronics magician and founder of the LIST* minimalist label Hervé Boghossian produces minimal textures using noise, guitar-ish tones, feedback, static and traditional instruments.
