In the waste land of the Palais de Tokyo, a space closed to the public for over 20 years and soon to become a place dedicated to contemporary art, Pugnaire and Raffini have installed their work: In Fine. Under the dome, the only intact element dating from 1937, the viewer discovers a new sculpture where the machine is at the heart of tensions between human and animal forms, like that of Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times. Pugnaire and Raffini create an in-between stage where the finality of the work is not defined and where the workshop becomes an adventurous place where all can still be invented or modified. Their work involves performance, exhibition and film.
