Gregor Samsa and eliotE & the Ritournelles

Since their first show in 2000, Gregor Samsa (named after Kafka’s character in "The Metamorphosis") have, in bizarre coalition with their namesake, changed their lineup so frequently that only the two founding members remain constant. The beautiful melancholy of their songs, the evocative lyrics and the vastly atmospheric soundscapes, however, are consistent throughout the band's career.

Folk(ish) trio eliotE & The Ritournelles are a deceptive thing - their calm, Pentangle-esque folk tunes can flip and bite your hand at the slightest provocation. Fronted by the Joanna Newsom-like vocals and guitar of Minnie Benoliel, the band deftly manipulate the subtleties of 70's English folk and modern anti-folk to create a sometimes sweet, sometimes stormy music.
