Le Ruban Vert

The presidential election results set off a cycle of demonstrations by millions of people. Repression was immediate and violent. Some decided to seize new means of communication to circulate censured information about the regime. Through slogans and symbolic images, citizens of a country in crisis have become their own reporters.

Le Ruban Vert is a collective of Iranian and non Iranian independent artists from a variety of political and religious persuasions, all united to reflect artistically on current events in Iran. Faced with censure and repression they have all chosen to work anonymously. Presented at Maison des Metallos the Action II project use a variety of medium - films, installations, performances, films and debates and is both an exhibition and programme of events.

In a mixed media exhibition the collective question the resistance, from Tehran to Paris. What remains of all those virtual images? How do you bring together these fragments of reality? The exhibition proposes a new form of collective narrative; works of art that are as much memories as proof of events.
