Ödland, Mia Doi Todd

Ödland take their inspiration, apparently, from the musical forces which shaped the 19th century - romanticism, neo-classicism and ragtime are on their list of major influences. The result is beautiful, micro-composed multi-instrumental chamber music lead by the voice of Alizée Bingöllü and underpinned by strange textures of violin, ukelele and lo-fi toy-orchestra style arrangements.

Mia Doi Todd has had varied fortunes as a solo artist and band leader - a short-lived spot at Sony/Columbia marked her moment in the sun, but way more interesting are the smaller, more intimate acoustic projects she has carried out under the radar of these business movements - "The Ewe and the Eye" and "Come Out of Your Mine" are some of the most crafted song collections in the genre.
