A new exhibition of contemporary art opens today in eastern Paris: the Biennale of Belleville. From September 10 to October 23, this multicultural neighborhood will become a field for new local and international artistic experimentation.
Personal and collective exhibitions, performances and installations from various artists will be held in both public and private places, streets and gardens; an attempt to shake off old habits and practices related to attendance at sites of contemporary art.
Initiated by a group of curators and art critics residing in Belleville, this Biennial aims to bring contemporary practices into the complexity of the phenomena of urban settlement. For a full list of what is going on in and around Belleville check out the website.
