Martin Creed

Between minimalism and exuberance, a musical performance by - Martin Creed and his group.

In the eyes of the punk artist, better known as the winner of the Turner Prize in 2001 with his play "Work No. 227, the lights going on and off, there is no difference between composing music and artistic creation. Martin has explored the two practices, mixing music to his visual installations, particularly in his "Work No. 223, Three METRONOMES beating time, one QUICKLY, one Steady, and Neither one nor Quickly Steady" (1999). It also includes visual elements and language spoken in his musical compositions.

In 2007, Creed presented at the gallery Hauser & Wirth Coppermill in London, a composition for an orchestra of eighteen players, all sitting in line according to the range of their respective instruments. Martin Creed has also written works for orchestra dedicated to the symphony orchestras of the cities Birmingham and Hiroshima. The same year, the musician produced his first choreography, "Work No. 1020", staged in October 2009 as part of the Frieze fair at Sadler's Wells in London. This work has received significant critical acclaim and was described by Time magazine as both "a dance piece, a rock concert, a video installation and a performance by stand-up."

Led by Martin Creed, the band perform most often with four musicians and has toured throughout Europe.
