For this almost totally silent show, British director Matthew Lenton was partly inspired by Maeterlinck’s play The Interior. An old man welcomes his close friends and relatives to a big dinner party thrown to celebrate the end of winter. One after the other, the guests take a seat around the table. We can see them through the windows of the house as if we were outside. Matthew Lenton plays on different temporalities in which the question at hand is the death of a young lady who may or may not have committed suicide. A shadow hangs over the family’s festivities, and behind the light-heartedness, the laughs and the joy of the reunion, there also dwells a troubled past.
