The Ex, Anne-James Chaton

Formed in 1979, Dutch avant garde troupe The Ex have woven themselves a complex musical mesh over the years, embracing free jazz, noise, improv, punk, rock and ethnic elements. The result is a dynamic, furious mix of discordant, rhythmic guitars, caustic vocals and almost tribal drummming. The start of this year, which marks the bands 30th anniversary, saw the departure of long-time vocalist G.W. Sok, and subsequent replacement by Zea frontman Arnold de Boer.

The band are joined tonight by sound poet Anne-James Chaton.
