Not content with being one of the most innovative figures in the story of techno,
Jeff Mills has garnered something of a reputation for brnaching out into film over the last few years. First up was his scoring of
Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", followed closely by his "Mono" project, an audiovisual installation based around
Kubrick's "2001, A Space Odyssey". Fast forward (via numerous DVD and cinematic projects) to 2009 - La Cinémathèque Française invites Mills to work on a performance of
Cecil B. DeMille's "The Cheat". The performance is a hit, and so here we are again, this time with
Serguei M. Eisenstein's film "Octobre" as the visual starting point.
