La Pequena Atraxion - Jeff Mills

Written 30 January

Saturday 31 January, 24:00
Rex, 75002 [map]
Jeff Mills, Chloé and Timid Boy

Since his first emergence as The Wizard on Detroit station WJLB, Jeff Mills has shaped and defined what we now call techno. A number of key partnerships act as signposts along the way - the now legendary Underground Resistance was formed with Parliament bassist Mike Banks, and the showcase of much of Mills's finest work, Axis, was formed in 1992 alongside M-Plant boss Robert Hood.

The last decade has seen Mills move into more reflective territory - his enthusiasm for electronic film scores drove him to produce his 2000 soundtrack to Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", and last month's audio-visual epic "The Trip" at the Grand Palais received acclaim from technophiles and art critics alike. If you're concerned about art-noodles on the dancefloor of this event, however, worry not: Mills is still tearing up dancefloor with his roughly hewn 3 deck, 909 and 70-records-per-hour Motor City style.

Tonight also features local DJ, producer and key component of Kill The DJ Chloé; and 4line/Time Has Changed crew member Timid Boy.
