Bloc has been spearheading the UK techno and bass music scene through their parties for a while now, particularly their renowned annual Minehead session. Tonight they bring a few of the biggest names to grace their decks over the last couple of years.

In little over 12 months, Croydon's sonic adventurer Pete O'Grady aka Joy Orbison has achieved more notoriety most producers achieve in a lifetime. Changing the game entirely when he dropped the ethereal dubby, bassweight of ‘Hyph Mngo’ last year, O’Grady has lived up to his hype as the wunderkid of post-dubstep electronica with remixes for US garage god Todd Edwards and Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood’s Recordings, dubby house excursions on Will Saul's Aus label and future beats on his own Doldrums imprint. When you’ve got everyone from Shed and Scuba to Pete Tong and Paul Woolford caning your tracks you know you’re doing something right.

Known to his friends and family as Matt Cutler, Lone started life as a bedroom child producer in Nottignham experimenting with Hip Hop, early 90s Hardcore, Techno and Electronic music for years before dropping his lush, dream-hop début opus ‘Lemurian’ on local label Dealmaker back in 2008 to critical acclaim from all areas of the industry including a top 10 of the year slot from Bleep, props from Kode9, Rustie, James Holden and countless others.

Cutting across genre pigeonholes as instinctively as his name suggests, Boxcutter’s discography invites comparisons with everyone from El-B, Burial, Skream and Digital Mystikz to Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Radioactive Man and 4 Hero – which is as strong a sign of a truly idiosyncratic producer as you will find.Twisting up classic two-step, acid house, proper electro, refracted rave snippets, jungle bass blasts and jazzy inflections into an entirely incomparable sound that cuts right from the bleeding-edge.

It’s an attempt to distil emotion into sound. Max Cooper’s techno ranges from stark electronica remixes of huge bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to the fuzzy, buzzing dancefloor sound of his breakthrough "Serie" releases. But it’s all, he says, inspired by his need to "match the emotions in the head with the emotion that can come out of the monitors".
