CONCERT

Papier Tigre

Written 30 January

Thursday 05 February, 20:30
Mains d'Oeuvres, 93400 Saint- [map]
Papier Tigre, L'Ocelle Mare

Bassless rock three-piece Papier Tigre have been hard at work since their eponymous debut in 2007, touring widely and working on what has become their latest album, "The Beginning and End of Now" - the perfect document of the band's rapid-fire approach to rock music. The lack of bass makes for a thrashy DIY sound, but the competence of Pasquereau and de la Grandiere's playing pushes the feel towards Battles territory, the snappy and concise themes being hammered home with formidable accuracy.

Joining the fray tonight will be L'ocelle Mare (or Thomas Bonvalet to his family), ex of Frenetic Records duo Cheval de Frise. For this project Bonvalet has dropped any pretense of popular song structure, however, and the result is a deeply personal and emotive music infused with original performance techniques.
