Anthony Gormley: For The Time Being

Written 30 January

Saturday 30 April, 18:30
Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, 75003 [map]

This is the vernissage of Galerie Thaddeus Ropac’s new exhibition of Anthony Gormley memes, demonstrating the British artists development of work based around study and abstraction of the human form. Best known for his evocative, large scale works in the UK (monolithic hilltop features, collections of lonely souls gazing out to sea, dozens of figures perched on buildings across the London skyline), Gormley’s careful meshes demonstrate a remarkable insight into the complex relationship between the human body and it’s environment.

Each work presents a relationship of three values - the sculpture itself, the geometrical rules of the space around it and the position of the viewer within that space.
