As part of a series of discussions on the theme of sound in the cinema, this evening looks at how some directors of documentary or fiction construct the sound tracks to their films.
Considered for many years as a separate entity to the film itself, sound has remained on the sidelines throughout the history of cinema and has often been omitted completely from the analysis of film. For the first introductory session
Jacques Tati's 1958 film "Mon Oncle" will be used as a tool for analysis.
