ART

Irresistible: Marina Abramović

Written 30 January

Tuesday 10 February, 10:00
Galerie Serge Le Borgne, 75003 [map]

A semi-autobiographical exhibition by Marina Abramović, a performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for over three decades, she has recently begun to describe herself as the “grandmother of performance art". The exhibition is based on her inspiration from her theatrical piece, Biography Remix – presented at the Avignon festival in 2005. She presents a photographic and chronological series of several performances from 1975 until now. Each ritualised and dramatised performance is related to the personal life of the artist.
From the 70's, Marina Abramović started to document her work through photography and film, building up a fund of documents that are an account of her life’s work but also works of art in their own right. Abramović's work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.
