The Handsome Furs make electronic landscapes filled with cold, metronomic beats and harsh washes of guitar. There's an underlying political sense to their music, but the two deliberately avoid the question in favour of oblique reflection on the nature of their task as touring and recording artists. "This band is completely based, aesthetically and otherwise, on travelling, on absorbing places and regurgitating them in music" states Boeckner, but don't let the compact and portable nature of the music fool you - this is a big sound.
The Handsome Furs are joined this evening by compulsive touring musician
Francois Virot, whose Animal Collective -ish folksy outpourings and DIY vibe have earnt him a hard core of avid followers over the last few years.
