Hip hop supergroup The Mighty Underdogs features Blackalicious man Gift of Gab, Latyrx's Lateef the Truth Speaker and Crown City Rockers' Headnodic. Their last album "Dropping Science Fiction" (released in 2008 on Definitive Jux, and featuring DJ Shadow, Chali 2na and Damian Marley, amongst others) received mixed reviews, but there are no doubts about the strength of their live performance.
Lateef the Truth Speaker's links bring us our next man up, French born Berkley resident General Elektriks has taken session keyboard work with the Quannum crew forward to form his own blend of tweaked beats and vintage keys. His album "Cliquety Kliqk", originally released on Bleu Electric in France, is a cinematic hip hop workout featuring Lateef and Chief xcel of the aforementioned San Fran crew.
Last but not least, 20syl (pronounced "vansil") brings the heavy turntable skills and his funk/soul/jazz influenced beats. As one quarter of C2C 20syl won the DMC World Team trophy four years in a row, so expect some high quality skills on display.
