An evening of deep and minimal house featuring some of the finest talent in the field. Brits
Swayzak have been mesmerising crowds for 15 years with their deep, cinematic productions and tough DJ sets, and the recent glut of minimal house has seen them step up the pressure and show the new initiates how it's done. Red Bull Music Academy winner
Patrice Bäumel is an equally experienced element of the scene, whose genre-crossing music of stark contrasts has earnt him respect both in his stomping grounds of Germany and the Netherlands and, more recently, worlwide.
Joining these household names is Glasgow producer Andy Graham, aka
Sei A. Not exactly a newcomer to the scene himself (his productions have graced many a label including his own Seinan Music and France's Missive imprint), Graham's music walks the line between dark, minimal tech and soulful house production - check out last year's floor- shaking release "Meth" and you'll see what we mean. We recently grabbed Mr Graham, turned him upside down and shook him until the following exclusive interview and
DJ mix fell out of his pockets.
TP: What's Glasgow like for house music right now?
AG: At the moment the House scene with a couple of clubs in Glasgow is really strong. Glasgow’s music scene on a whole is really thriving way outside the house bracket as well. With clubs like the Sub Club, The Arches and the Soundhaus putting on some wicked nights like Subculture, Numbers, Off The Record to name a few, people are getting to hear great music every week. The House/Tech output is also very healthy with Milton Jackson new Album about to be released on Freerange, great EP's from Tronicsole, Paragraph to name a couple.
TP: Your own label Seinan is getting a lot of attention - how's that going?
AG: The Seinan Label is definitely starting to pick up nicely, we are only on our 2nd release which is out this week on beatport entitled Sei A - Knowing Innocence which includes a Llorca remix. Reactions have been great, we are pretty excited. The 1st release 'Meth', was picked up by a wide array of DJ's and we are hoping that the tracks that we release will not get lost as quickly as other stuff as we approach some of the tracks as song based ideas - slightly drifting away from the norm. We are also starting a regular club night in Glasgow with guests playing that appear on the label.
TP: How did you end up on Missive for your first album?
AG: Missive was an easy choice due to me working closely with them with previous EP's. I had a collection of tracks gathering up and we all agreed that we should go for it and do an album. I have a good relationship with guys and it was a pleasure for me to release it with them.
TP: What's the response like to your style here in France?
AG: So far the response has been great, I've played live and DJ'd a handful of times and everytime I've really enjoyed and the feedback has been very positive.
TP: You recently collaborated with Llorca - are there more cross-channel hookups in the future?
AG: There are a few collaborations in the pipeline, there's a Deepchild remix of my next EP on Seinan and also a collab with an up and coming Detroit guy which i've recently remixed, Kris Wadsworth. Also more Milton Jackson Sei A stuff on it's way very soon.
TP: You must be spending a fair bit of time in Paris - favourite hangouts?
AG: Everytime I come to Paris I find I never get anytime to see anything apart from mad cave after-parties!! What I have seen of the City is very nice and so is everyone I get to meet.
TP: What's your favourite drink?
AG: Jack Daniels & Coke :)
TP: Do you have any pets?
AG: No, I used to have a budgie though!
