Three piece homemade Yorkshire guitar pop outfit
Sky Larkin don't like pigeonholes. Let's try anyway, though. Broken Social Scene meets Hüsker Dü in an Audi factory? Battles and Leonard Cohen flying through space? The new Violent Femmes? We give up. Whatever - their incisive, complex, densely layered pop is both heart-wrenching and clinical, studied and emotive.
Birmingham indie rock trio
Johnny Foreigner's awesome 2007 debut EP "Arcs Across The City" catapulted them into the limelight, earning general media rapture including full marks review from Drowned in Sound. Their songs are fast, targetted and concise, their lyrics reduced and clever, and the whole package is as catchy as it is irresistable.
Also on the bill this evening:
Gemma Ray and
To Arms Etc, both signed to the Bronzerat label, both difficult to pigeonhole, both very much worth a listen.
