"Seasick" Steve Wold left an abusive home aged 13 and spent many years riding freight trains, looking for work. "Hobos are people who move around looking for work, tramps are people who move around but don't look for work, and bums are people who don't move and don't work. I've been all three", Wode once explained.
Music became
Seasick Steve's career during the sixties, when he toured and performed blues. He went on to produce and engineer some mid-profile bands (including Modest Mouse) but major success only arrived with the release of his own debut "Dog House Music" in 2006. The album's raw blues and stripped down boogie, played on customised instruments (three string guitar, one stringed bow and the ever-present stomp box known as the "Mississippi Drum Machine") has fired Seasick Steve to the acclaim, with sold out shows at the Royal Albert Hall, a MOJO award in 2007 and a Brit award nomination. As Wold himself puts it: "I can't believe it, all of a sudden I'm like the cat's miaow!"
