CONCERT
Feromil, Jean-François Laporte, Preshish Moments |
Written 30 January |
Thursday 26 February, 20:00Point Ephémère, 75010 [map]
An evening of diverse and experimental music and sound. First up, Dunkirk born Emilien Leroy, aka
Feromil, continues his use of multiple identities and intriguing instruments to bring us his Theremin-like adaptation of that well known musical instrument - the metal detector. The breadth and depth of sounds which Leroy coaxes from the apparatus is stunning - the detector speaks, howls, whispers and roars.
Canadian
Jean-François Laporte carries out concrete sound experiments, actively listening to every sound he uses to attempt to understand its reality and structure. By focussing his thinking on sound at this level, he creates intuitive, diverse and unconventional music from everyday sounds and familiar instruments.
Finally, San Francisco man Michael Carter, aka
Preshish Moments, blends hip hop, noise, breakcore and electronica to produce complex, Venetian Snares style textures and tracks.
