Ebony Bones, We Are Not DJs

Ebony Thomas was a soap star. Now she's a musician. There is precedent for this showbiz route - there are previous stories, there is protocol. We all know how it goes, and we've become slightly impervious to the whole game. No matter how loved, how familiar, how laughed at; we are well trained in severing ties with our soap stars once they pick up a microphone. Which is why Ebony Bones is so refreshing.

Previously seen on the British soap "Family Affairs", Thomas's reinvention of her career is a true correction, a swinging of the compass needle in the right direction. In the last two years, she has played Glastonbury twice, earnt "Single of the Week" and "Hottest Record in the World Today" on the BBC (for her abrasive debut "We Know All About U"), appeared in i-D, NME and Q magazines, toured with The Slits, supported Basement Jaxx... the list goes on.

Backing up Mme Bones this evening will be local dancefloor force "Common People Party", whose "We Are Not DJs" platine-team rarely fail to smash things up.
