Elysian Fields have been emitting their dark, ephemeral art rock for almost fifteen years. Far more successful in Europe than their native USA, where they remain pretty underground, the band have toured extensively over the last decade and amassed a sizeable cult following. Check out tonights show and you'll see why - live, Elysian Fields are a thing to behold. Having featured members of
Jeff Buckley's band, members of
Ollabelle and of
Medeski Martin and Wood, the level of musicianship here is impressive.
The band are equally as interesting on disc - though you can count their significant releases on one hand (almost), they've worked with Steve Albini, John Lurie and Marc Ribot, and contributed to John Zorn's compilaton series.
