Les Paladins

Written 30 January

Sunday 15 March, 15:00
Louvre (Auditorium), 75001 [map]

Les Paladins, written by Rameau, was inspired by a La Fontaine fable. The opera was an abounding work which puzzled the public at the time of its creation. The new version of Les paladins, commissioned using two directors, José Montalvo and Dominique Hervieu, with no previous operatic experience, was a clever step. The work contains multiple parodies from opera of the time and the work of Rameau himself. The setting and videographics of Montalvo get to the depths of time discrepancy and Mise en abyme. Classical dance, break dance, hip hop and acrobatics makes Paladins one of those shows which creates a new genre situated somewhere between opera, videographic creation and dance and manages to set a new standard in ingenuity.
