Herman Dune are the Parisian duo that everyone knows even if they think they don't (if the name is news to you, listen to
"I wish that I could see you soon" and then listen to yourself going "Oh yeah, them…"). Formed in 1999, they've been associated in various ways with
Françoiz Breut,
Ben Dope, Fountain Boats and
Kimya Dawson amongst others.
Their latest album "Last Year In Zion", which they're touring now, features the John Natchez Bourbon Horn Players (
Beirut,
Arcade Fire) as well as the
Babyskins on backing vox. It's a wide ranging thing, from childish innocence and naïve humour to deeply touching emotive songwriting, and should make for a fairly spellbinding performance.
