Duo
Mansfield Tya consists of classically trained musicologist Carla Pallone (violin) and Fine Arts student Julia Lanoë (vocals). The project is five years old now, and the cohesion between the two gives rise to some of the most original and touching live music in the genre - something in the vein of
Velvet Underground, but with an exposed, new wave dryness and a generous dose of theatre. Their live performances show no mercy - not that they're particularly raucus or offensive, just that you really do need to concentrate to keep up with the distilled catharsis of their poetic lyrics and immediacy of their compositions.
