There seems to be a deep Detroit tag team thing going on at the minute. If you caught
Theo Parrish last month and are hungry for more of that deep, jazzy tech stuff, you're in luck: here's a welcome visit from Parrish's collaborator (as part of
3 Chairs), producer, DJ and all round Detroit legend Kenny Dixon Jr, aka
Moodymann. Since the early days of
Planet E Records, Moodymann has enjoyed a loyal French following, and his integration of tech/deep house with jazz, funk and soul has been spreading throughout Europe and further afield ever since.
Also spinning tonight: local boy of international fame
DJ Deep, ambassador of deep NY house in France;
Franck Roger, producer and DJ responsible for pushing house music forward for the last decade in Paris; and local institution Greg Gauthier, without whom Paris' house music scene would be a far poorer place.
