Written 30 January

Sunday 22 March, 10:00
Institut du Monde Arabe, 75005 [map]

Born in 1970 in Switzerland, Emmanuel Michel initially trained in art restoration finally devoted himself entirely to painting and sculpture. In this exhibition he provides a document of his encounters across five continents; his last travels took him to Tanzania, Mongolia and more recently Tunisia. He has exhibited for over twenty years in both France and abroad. L’Institut du monde arabe presents twenty five canvases recently inspired by Tunisia and Egypt. The works highlight Michel’s attachment to the population, captured in its everyday form, its beliefs and its culture and evoke the mawled of Egypt, the Oases, Souks, Kairawan, and Tozeur to name but a few places. Emmanuel Michel will also be presenting his latest 200 page book, illustrated with his paintings, sculptures and sketch book work from the last three years.
