Barzin

Beginning life as a solo project in the mid-nineties, then swelling slowly to the count of four heads, Barzin is a difficult band to pin down. Part Americana, part celtic folk, part shoegazer, part alt/experimental - Barzin's music manages to blend styles whilst remaining focused, without becoming contrived. The melodies are soft, measured and colourful; the harmonies are rich and the lyrics emotive, personal and careful.

Barzon's latest album "Notes to an Absent Lover" was released last month on Monotreme, a sad suite of songs about love and loss, ending in the romantically beautiful "The Dream Song".
