The Flèche d’Or's Anglo-rock night returns, with three UK bands and one local bunch.
First up, Essex post-punk band
Neils Children. Their insistent, Kinks-inspired, garage rock sound has earnt a solid fanbase and considerable critical acclaim in the UK and abroad, notably resulting in gigs at London's
Insomniacs Ball and Amsterdam's London Calling Festival.
Next up, Camden boys
Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Born from the blog scene at the end of last year, this electro-pop three piece make high-energy, euphoric music with more than a touch of the 80's. "If you could mix up
Pet Shop Boys,
Human League,
Run DMC,
Yazoo and Japan in a blender, with a side order of
Ultravox, Liasons Dangereuses and
Duran Duran, then I reckon you'd be somewhere near Le Pool's sound", the band said in an interview with
Londonist.
Heavy bass-less trio Invasion play incisive, fast, riff-based metal assaults. Somewhere between psychedelic and thrash, the band recently worked on new material with
Simian's James Shaw.
Finally, the Gallic element of tonights bill, Film Noir, supply their intricately layered,
Radiohead-inspired, almost avant garde rock.
