After exploring afrobeat, hip hop, rock and funk, Bam Bam Jam present a night of grooves bent towards the electronic. The gem of the lineup is recent
DFA signings Cage & Aviary, whose retro electro disco pop sits somewhere between
Talking Heads,
Hot Chip and
Kraftwerk, with a healthy dose of disco thrown in. Their recent DFA release "Television Train" - a heavy slice of insanely catchy lumbering disco - earnt considerable acclaim, and new ventures with Paris-based
Astro Lab Recordings and London's Tiny Sticks should bring these two chaps to wider attention.
Bolstering the bill tonight will be a live set from Mathematics crew Aéroplanes, and DJ sets from
Laurent Pastor (Astrolab), Zaltan (Cosmic Club) and
Staycalm!'s Stansmith and Italo Video.
