No big intro necessary for Stockport man Andy Carthy, aka
Mr Scruff. His marathon, eclectic sets have been quirking up crowds worldwide for over a decade, and his own productions have been no less influential. From his 1995 debut on Rob's Records through to the formation of
Ninja Tuna last year (a cooperative label project between Scruff and
Ninja Tune), his work has widely explored the leftfield and brought back some lovely presents. More recently, Carthy has diversified his odball empire, moving into the unlikely worlds of cafe ownership and tea production.
