Nassima

Having listened to her mother singing and having accompanied her father to concerts of renowned masters whilst a young girl, Nassima fell in love with Arabian-Andalusian music. She has become a great figure of that genre in Algeria and one of its esteemed performers on world stages. Now living in Paris, she continues to develop her repertoire, with derivations on the styles of Arabian-Andalusian music, the chaabi in particular, which has always been a style that remained men’s prerogative for a long time and of which she presents her own version on the occasion of her fourth performance at the Théâtre de la Ville. Nassima opens the evening with a repertoire of songs and poetic contests shared and practiced by Algerian women.
