Bernard Bygodt

Written 30 January

Tuesday 31 March, 12:30
Musée du Montparnasse, 75015 [map]

Self-taught artist, Bygodt found his inspiration in his eclectic readings and in the observation of nature. Jazz, Indian and modern music and songs also became part of his workshop atmosphere. At the age of twenty he was drafted for a 28 month period of military service in Algeria. That experience left a deep impact on his approach to life, strengthening his determination to remain independent. After Bernard Bygodt’s death, his friends created an association to promote his works to a wider audience. Bygodt’s abstract paintings are spontaneous, powerful and dynamic personal pieces of work and this retrospective provides a chance to see a collection of his work over the years.
